Jalan Besar is one of my favourite places in Singapore. Its gives you the feeling of going back to the days where things were not so complicated. Peaceful! pawpawsg.com

I studied from 1971 to 1976, but unlike my friends like Mun Kwong and Chee Beng ( Chan Kok Kee and Adeline Yip in this post), I was in the Afternoon at Pri 6A. All of you are welcome to join us in the fbook's - Pearl's Hill School Alumni 1971 1976 Pri 6A! Recently I had lunch with Mr Ong Leng Guan, he is still alert at 79 years old!! Anyway, do look me up in facebook!

I am a ex-student in Pearl's Hill. (1977-1982). Many nice memories I had in this tallest primary school. I like the music class especially because they were conducted at the highest floor of this school. The view were nice and it was very windy.

Like to play "go li" (Marble) behind the school (basket ball court) leading to the park. Both my elder sis & my younger brother studied there. We stay at Jalan Kukoh, rented apartment. We were poor but we were happy. Only until I was primary 6, we then move to West Coast, a 3 room flat. I spent my last year in Pearl's Hill taking long bus ride from West Coast to OG (New Bridge Road) with my siblings before walking to school.

Had a crash on a couple female classmates during those days. Their name was Lee Mei Sum, Lily Loh, Ang Tai Peng. Was wondering how are my classmates. Loss all contact with them.

Still remember this Aunty who will guide us across the road every morning with a "children crossing" road sign. She wore a smart uniform with a hat.

And then there was also this dumb (incapable of speech) woman who will always brings her child to school. I heard rumor that she ate some fruits along the road side trees that cause her to lost her speech. How naive I was.

We had a "short" lift attendance too!. He always like to entice us with his King Kong gameboy!

Wish all my classmate healthy and successful in their life and career!

I was a former student from the year 1971 to 77, I think. I do missed it. I remember it being the tallest primary school with lifts in Singapore. On the occasion we were allowed to use the lift is when we were a class or with a teacher. Many of us did secretly tried to use the lifts without getting caught! Although I had good memories of the school, I had some bad ones too. The most dreaded announcements from the school dental nurses. I hated it! The number of times I was called for treatment esp. fillings is horribly unnessary I'm very sure! But I must complement the quality they provide for my teeth as I still have the fillings from way back then, unlike these days!

It's a shame to see it close! I remember walking by with my little daughter when my parents were still living at Outram Park and pointing out to her my former school. I'm visiting S'pore this August and I think I must visit the site again and reintroduce it to my teenage daughter. My favourite teachers were Mrs Lim, Mr Yeo Tiong Gum. I'm still in contact with some of my friends from Pearl's Hill School days and we enjoyed talking about 'those were the days'

I studied Pearl's Hill from 1971 - 1976. We recently have a gather of 3 girls (Ng Lai See, Koh Lee Tian and myself) and we are now hoping to find friends who studied with us during those years to keep in touch with us. Please visit my Facebook Adeline Yip and get in touch with me. In Facebook, we found Lai Mun Kwong and Ong Chee Beng and still hoping to find people like Giam Wai Meng, Chin Yee Choong, Seock Hwee, Suat Hwee, Lee Mee Geok, Tay Bee Hong, Lim Poh Tin, Yong Tuck Meng, etc.

Can another remember our Principal, Mr Ng? Wonder how is he now?

I am a ex- student of this primary school (1977 to 1982). I too have many memories of this primary school. I remembered taking a lift to my classroom and remember the beautiful trees outside the school and the big fileld where we had our house practice and sports day. And I always enjoy my teachers taking me to Pearl Hill during PE lessons. It was really fun.
